- Stand Mixers: This is the most popular type of kitchen mixer that you will find in just about anyone’s home. Most stand mixers will come with a recipe book with easy things to cook or bake to help you learn how to use a stand mixer. Stand mixers are distinguishable from hand mixers because they come with fitted bowls, come with a variety of different heads and are typically more expensive. Stand mixers have a history of being more reliable than hand mixers, this is because the stand mixer fits a bigger, more reliable motor due to its larger size. Stand mixers are also considered to be ‘upper end’ kitchen appliances, hence why many home bakers and enthusiastic cooks use them.
- Hand Mixers: Hand mixers are also very common. They are cheap, easy to use and are capable of mixing, blending just about anything aside from raw vegetables. - Use Hand Mixers For: Blending in the pot, making soups, sauces and slicing up cooking vegetables quickly.
- Use Stand-Hand Mixers For: When you need to mix solids and liquids together and need the flexibility of blending ingredients in multiple pots or bowls.
- Motor quality is usually indicated by warranty. Stand mixers usually have higher quality motors.
- If the motor has multiple settings, it is considered a good sign.
- If your motor has high RPM and wattage, it is likely a quality motor.
- A strong warranty policy on the product is a good indication on the brands confidence in the product.
- If there is a weaker warranty policy, consider the price of the product. Can you afford to replace in the product in the next year? if not, choose a product with a better warranty, if it’s on your budget.
- The product should be within your budget.
- If you are willing to splurge on a nicer model, it should be justified with your cooking and baking habits – ask yourself, “do I really need it”?
- If the product is too cheap, decide whether or not you will benefit from using the product or whether you really need to purchase a kitchen mixer for rare use.
